inculcated in to me. I hope with my time with the students I shall provoke some of them to change their ways to become the BEST THEY CAN BE. Now in my eleventh year, I have come to recognize what makes J. J. Academy different from our peer schools. All independent schools tout their differences, and yet I am now more convinced than ever that J. J. Academy remains unique amongst the many excellent independent schools in the Mumbai. We universally value outdoor adventure and we include it into our 8th and 9th Std curricula, regularly taking advantage of our time with the children. Finally, we define achievement as a meaningful life and we see our School's values come alive in the colleges our students choose and in the lives our alumni lead in a variety of ways. I am confident that a J. J. Academy education is what our kids need to be the best versions of themselves and to contribute to the world. The discipline is what gets you from now to your Goals, it takes effort and a strong sense of why you are doing and what you are doing. I wish all the very best for them and pray that the School brings out the best in them.

Last year during our farewell, we asked our students what it means to be a JJite. I was touched by how clearly they "get it." I repeatedly read on their index cards themes of community, family, life-long learning, contributing to the world, learning from failure, and holding multiple perspectives. Our students said it the best:

"To be a J Jite means to feel safe, protected. It's nice to feel close to the teachers. We feel loved." -"AJJite is someone who learns from his/her experiences and takes that knowledge and applies it to his/her life, then goes out and strives to make a difference--whether big or small--in the greater world."

This year, we are embarking on the next phase of J. J. Academy's development by ensuring that our physical campus more fully supports the power of our academic program.

I would also like to thank Principal Ms. Lara for her commitment and her dedicated work in developing great programs at J. J. Academy, as well as, My Father who first introduced me to this wonderful school and who gave so much to J. J.Academy. I look forward to building on both their efforts.

As I experienced my first full day, I feel privileged to join in the work and traditions of this great community. I look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you this coming year.
